Hudson Not Abandoning Wii Virtual Console After All?

Here's hoping. A report at vc-reviews.com strongly suggests that Hudson has every intention to continue releasing games for our beloved TurboGrafx-16 Virtual Console on Nintendo's Wii. "Virtual Console on Nintendo's Wii" sounds like I am talking about some sort of genital skin cancer.

At any rate, here's a snippet from the article:

"...we saw reports on various web sites yesterday that Mike Pepe, Director of Marketing at Hudson, had made the following statement:

“Although WiiWare has been very successful for Hudson we have every intention to continue supporting Virtual Console. We are very pleased with the service and are happy to make available products that have been fan favorites in the past. Creating new games on WiiWare and releasing past ones on VC are two separate initiatives that we intend to support.”

While we're not sure what to think at this point, we are excited that there's at least some hope of more Turbografx-16 titles coming out on the Virtual Console in North American and Europe. Who knows, maybe we'll even see a few more imports since there are still quite a few great titles available for release. For now all we can do is just keep our fingers crossed. But we have to think it's good news that Bomberman '94 was recently OLFC rated.

Hudson is currently searching for some input on what games we'd like to see on the Virtual Console..."

Sounds like good news to me. Like I said earlier, I hope so.

Even though I do not have a Wii, I certainly hope that Hudson, and others, continue to fully support VC. Anecdotal evidence suggests that VC was really helping to popularize some older games with folks who wouldn't otherwise play them. Plus, Hudson still hasn't released Hatris here in North America.
