Review:
Exile is a pretty good action RPG.  Gameplay-wise, it is sort of a cross between CF and Cadash: overhead village scenes where you chat with the locals, often required to advanced the plot, and horizontally-scrolling action scenes.  The graphics are good: well coloured with nice large sprites, but the sprite animation is mediocre.  The backgrounds are pretty but need more parallax.

The action levels alternate between totally linear and rather confusing mazes. I consider that a good thing.  The plot jumps around a bit, so i keep feeling like i missed a page.

Unlike the PC-Engine Software Bible guy, I quite dig the music.  Some tunes do stand out as particularly professional, and i woke up this morning with one of them in my head.  Ok none of them are as good as "Woke up this morning", the Sopranos theme, but then that song's the bomb.
Overall, I give it an 8 because I like it.  Hardcore RPG-ers will find more bliss in the Cosmic Fantasy series, though.
