Scared you didn’t I? Sorry about that, I was just using dramatic effect to make a point. Fear, anticipation and suspense, these three elements are crucial to any great horror video game. And frightening a user is one of the greatest feats that a video game can accomplish. Whenever a video game sends chills down your spine it’s a moment you don’t soon forget. Well we have just the game to send those shivers, so prepare your spine! Calling, the next step in the evolution of the Japanese horror genre is coming out for Wii™ in March 2010.

The horror genre has been an important part of Japanese culture for several centuries. Whether it’s through spoken stories, movies or video games. The tradition of telling folk tales about ghosts dates back to the late 700’s. Traditionally ghosts or as there called in Japan, yūrei, are females, dressed in white and have long, black hair. Now not every yūrei follows those guidelines, though most famous ones in Japanese horror do.

J-Horror as it’s been dubbed in America, didn’t become popular over seas until the early 2000’s. Re-makes of Japanese horror movies launched America into a Japanese horror fever! It became the big trend in Hollywood. Video games also became heavily influenced by the J-Horror phenomenon. Many titles that have been released in the past 10 years embodied the fundamentals of classic Japanese horror story lines. But none of those games ever took the user to the next level of fear.

Calling is the next step in the evolution of the Japanese horror genre. It embodies every classic trait of J-horror and more! It has suspense, vengeance, and a few intense surprises that will take gamers to the brink. Bringing a modern vibe to a classic genre is what makes Calling so special. It gives the user the ability to experience J-horror in a way they have like never before. It literally puts the phone in hands of the user. But who is on the line? Guess you’ll just have to wait until March 2010, when Calling hits the shelves!

When the phone rings, will you be the one to answer the call? "

Alma and the "F.E.A.R." series is one of my faves. "Resident Evil" is my all time best, and "Eternal Darkness:Sanity's Requiem" (for the GameCube) is another primo title, that NEEDS a sequel!!!! Come on Silicon Knights!!!!!

= )

I'll be interested in seeing this title do well. We'll see.

uPCE - 0.4 Luckyboy Preview for Dingoo A320 Dingux

An update for uPCE, a TurboGrafx 16 / PC Engine emulator, for Dingux has been released by Uguru.

www.developia.info

uPCE new version, now 0.4 Luckyboy Preview

Changelog:

- Changed some issue related to sound, removed some slowdowns.
- Improved a little speed on emulation.
- Added a letter selector in filemanager.
- Added some items on System config in menu.
- Cleaned some code (but need a little more cleaning code).
- Zip files with one rom, runs without filezipmanager.
- Added and changed fit and scale video modes.

Release/discussion Thread Here: http://boards.dingoonity.org/dingoo-releases/upce-0-4-luckyboy-preview/msg7434

Download = http://www.megaupload.com/?d=O76AB96D

Castlevania: Rondo of Blood (Dracula X) On the Way to Wii

That's right, looks like we're finally going to see Dracula X (Castlevania: Rondo of Blood) appear on the Wii Virtual Console in English speaking countries. float: left" width="250" alt="" src="http://www.gemeitech.com/cn/admin/editnews/UploadFile/200894155736741.jpg" />A few weeks ago I bought a Dingoo A320, the coolest (and most affordable) portable game system I have ever owned. Built in, the thing has Neo Geo, CPS1, CPS2, GBA, SNES, Genesis, NES emulators (the SNES and Genesis emulators are about the only ones with issues). All you need to do is copy your ROMs across via USB cable.

Well, I finally came across a PC Engine emulator (and instructions on how to get it working) for the A320:

source

The PC Engine emulator is slow at the moment, but playable. What's even better is Linux has already been ported to the A320, this means PC Engine emulators that already exist for the Linux platform should be very easy to port to the A320. Basically, we are not far from having a near perfect PC Engine emulator.

The A320 first went on sale back in February, and already it has a dedicated following and developers working on emulators and Linux. Even the great ZodTTD is rumoured to be working on a port of MAME.

More info on the A320:
-Fantastic battery life (7 to 8 hours)
-Great feeling controls
-Price ($84US from DealExtreme)
-Open Source Platform
-4GB or 8GB built-in memory
-MicroSD port for additional expansion
-A/V outputs
-AVI codecs (no h.264 support yet)

Very high potential with this handheld folks. For such a cheap gadget, I love the thing. Here's wishing the A320 a long life.

OD

PSPHugo 1.3.0 is Available for PSP

PSPHugo 1.3.0 is Available for PSP
<img style="margin: 5px;
